About

Digital TV Cumbria is here to help with the transition to digital television.

Whitehaven, on the west coast of Cumbria, was the first place in the UK to make the switch from an  analogue television service to a digital service on October 17 2007.

This website was launched in 2005 to help people share their experiences of the switchover .

The switch to digital TV is not unique to the UK.  Many countries including the USA are making the switch and taking the opportunity to restructure the wavelengths freed up by the move.

We hope you enjoy your visit to the new look site launched to celebrate the final 100 days of analogue tv in the northern part of Cumbria.

The transmitter, Caldbeck,  used to serve  the area is due to switch on the 24 June 2009
