Just spotted this over on the DS forum:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Was at a meeting in Berwick last night and can confirm that the changeover of the Berwick transmitter from Border to Tyne Tees will be happening shortly. This is AFAIK the first twin-parent relay to be dealt with as part of the DTTV switchover (there are 30 in all throughout the UK, with a fair number of them in the Border area).

ITV are quite keen to have Berwick dealt with ASAP and so they are locating new transposers for it which will be fitted as part of the work. The date I was given for it was sometime during December.

I wonder how many people living just over the Border rely on that transmitter and will thus be annoyed by the change ? Cheesy

Or even how many folks already watch Tyne Tees and wont notice any difference. I clearly remember sitting in a small pub near the train station 10 years ago and seeing the (short lived) "Channel 3 North East" id come up on the telly in the corner of the bar

Well, quite - I suppose it boils down to how many people are actually relying on the service from the Berwick relay.... which I suppose is mainly going to be those in lowlying areas and on the northnortheasterly slopes shaded from Chatton.

According to one of the lads over on the DS forum, Berwick defected to TyneTees on the 13th December   sad

Hope you enjoy "Newcastle TV" coz once the novelty of the new area wears off for TTTV you cant be certain there will be sod all news from Berwick on the evening news.........
