Viewers will go from having access to four channels via an aerial today to a total of 18, plus five BBC digital radio channels and interactive services.

Television channels: BBC1, BBC2, BBC3, BBC4, Cbeebies, CBBC, BBC News24, BBC Parliament, ITV1, ITV2, ITV3, ITV4, CITV, C4, E4, More 4, Quiz Call, Community Channel
BBC digital radio services: Five Live Sports Extra, 6 Music, BBC 7, Asian Network, 1 Xtra.
BBCi Interactive ìred buttonî services, Teletext, Teletext Cars, Teletext on 4.

All of these channels and more are already available now on  Sky and freesat from Sky.

Now that we have switched over to digital,bought new equipment etc, can you explain why it is that we cannot get as many channels as other areas which are still analogue + digi box. For example, sky sports news, sky news, dave etc. I expected that we would have the best service not 2nd best.  I am in CA19 area. Thanks for any info.

Hi and welcome,

Your reduced list of channels is possibly due to the Caldbeck transmitter currently running on low power and subject to intermissions.

I would suggest that you don't panic yet and wait until a few weeks after the main switchover when the transmitters in this area will be put on full power. 

This will increase the area served by the channels and your services may improve.

I believe the low power is for safety reasons whilst they install the new transmitters on the hillside between Carlisle and West Cumbria.

If after this time you are still seeing problems then it is worth further investigation.
