I drive up and down the M6 on a regular basis and always have lost radio reception, even on MW, through the Shap gorge.  

What will happen when I get a digital radio fitted or have one as standard in a future car to rececption in this area?

A new transmitter was announced for Penrith a few weeks ago. If it is on the ridge above the town it will fix part of the problem. It isn't running yet.
